Black-Box Parts
The Black Box tool replaces a group of parts with a single opaque barrel. Use it once a sub-assembly is finished and you want to handle it as one mechanical unit, for example in a bill of materials.
Building a black box
- Click Black Box in the toolbar, or choose Tools → Black box tool.
- Click the parts to include.
- Set the barrel's front margin, back margin and outer diameter, or keep the defaults:

| Back margin | 5 mm / 0.2″ |
| Outer diameter | The largest included part plus a small margin |
Before you confirm
- The black box opens as a new setup in a new browser tab. The original setup is left unchanged.
- A black box cannot be opened up again. Keep the original setup if you may need the individual parts later.
